One day in Calgary: Global Calgary's Reid Fiest

The morning show host stays connected to the food scene and has great recommendations for a day in Cowtown

Reid Fiest Global Calgary

Reid Fiest is an early riser, who mans the desk at Global TV Calgary every Saturday and Sunday morning at 6 a.m. (yikes!) to fill Calgarians in on what happened in their city overnight, and during the day. In addition to news and weather, Global Calgary’s Weekend Morning News also features the fun side of Calgary – from community events to highlights of the most delicious plates around the city.

For ideas on breakfast, lunch and dinner in Cowtown, check out where Fiest eats and what he cooks with some of the city's coolest culinary experts (including our very own Stephanie Eddy and Dan Clapson).

If waking up early over the weekend is not your thing, you can catch Fiest on Twitter at more reasonable hours of the day at @ReidFiest.

Breakfast

Diner Deluxe or OEB Breakfast: I’ve never been disappointed at either famous breakfast spots.

Lunch

Submission Bakery on Stephen Ave: It has the best sub you have ever tasted. The bread, the meat, the toppings — everything is so fresh.

Dinner

River Café: Whether it’s the summer or the middle of winter, there is nothing like the River Café in Calgary. I love this restaurant. It’s my favourite place to go for a special occasion with that special someone.

Drinks

National Beer Hall: I love the atmosphere at both Calgary locations. Try the Hound Dog Hooch, made with vodka, pink lemonade and wheat beer. Its Caesars are to die for, too!
